ART

Art therapy is an expressive therapy used to assist an individual in identifying their feelings, thoughts and views on different areas in their lives. Many times, art therapy is an effective way to assist someone in unearthing unconscious material that they may have difficulty sharing or have been unaware that they feel. Our art therapy program’s use of paint, sand and colored inks are the most popular.

MUSIC

Many people are not aware of the benefits of music. Scientifically, music affects areas of the brain that are usually not stimulated. It is also an evidenced based way to promote healing through the skillful playing of instruments and the evocation of intense emotion. Music is most effective with individuals who suffer from pain, depression, stress and anxiety.

YOGA

Yoga’s purpose is to draw unity between the mind and spirit through increasing one’s physical muscle strength, flexibility and improved respiration. Through challenging individuals to strengthen their bodies in the various yoga poses, one is forced to expand the view of their ability to sit with discomfort and increase the areas in which they may feel weak. Yoga has been known to assist greatly with difficulty in life transition, mental clarity, substance misuse and difficulty with sleeping.

AROMATHERAPY

Aromatherapy at TPCC is used for many different purposes. Depending on what the need may be, we will use an aroma to assist our clients. Whether they have trouble focusing or are anxious, the use of Lemon or lavender may assist in the therapeutic process. Aromatherapy is mostly known for its use with those suffering with sleeping disorders, anxiety and low levels of motivation.
