FAMILY TOOLS

An Integrated Family Program

TPCC sees you and your family as a system, and in any system, each part is related to all the other parts. Consequently, a change in any part of the system will make changes in the other parts. This means that the strengths of your family can bring about changes in the territory of diverse problems with substance abuse.

There is no single definition of a “family”. Your counselor will help you define your family by exploring and discussing the most important and closest emotional connections you have with other individuals in your life that defines your family. The impact of substance abuse on the family is unique for everyone. Using TIFP will help educate your family in the disease concept of addiction and their approaches to it. We will discuss family related topics such as: Co-dependency, Family Roles, Enabling, Interaction, Views, Values, Culture. Also, Denying problems, protecting the person who has the addiction problem, chronic anger, anxiety, conflict, shame, isolation, and eventual health problems. In the adolescent: Accepting adult responsibilities when they are transitioning  to it and are not  ready yet, school problems, family modeling, substance abuse patterns, and adjustment to divorce, domestic violence, stress, and low self-esteem, sexual advantage, sexual abuse, emotional and physical abuse, among other families issues.

At TPCC, we made a mandatory requirement for treatment, The Family Integration, full participation and involvement in the adolescent program. We start to discuss The Family Integration Program at the time of your intake interview. We will provide family services at a minimum of two times per month, in an incorporated treatment plan with the family therapist and family members. Monthly family group with the participation of all family in treatment will also take place at the premises and be intrinsic part of treatment.
